Gold bronze pigments are easily prone to discoloration at temperature range of around 75°C. Hence the colour of the pigments changes at a temperature as low as approx. 75°C. Hence "Normal" gold bronze pigments can be only used in ambient-drying coatings that are not subsequently exposed to high temperatures (e.g. decorative coatings). An improvement version of gold bronze pigments in colour stability is available in the name of Stabilized gold bronze pigments which will with stand high temperatures.

Solvent separation of aluminium pastes is not a quality problem, which may be due to two reasons: A real settling of the aluminium pigments or a condensation of the solvent (and/or a combination of both) due to excess vibration during transit or due to high extreme temperature conditions when the container is transported. Such phenomenon does not mean the deterioration of Aluminium paste. As long as the complete content of the drum is used after uniform mixing, no loss in quality will occur.

There are two possible causes for the formation of gas in aqueous metallic coatings. These three causes are as follows:
• High shearing forces (high stirrer rpm and blade profile) damages the aluminium pigments which will result in formation of gas due to exposure of unprotected aluminium surface. Recommended speed shall be within 500 - 1000 rpm at room temperature with smooth blade profile.
• pH value shall be closer to neutral.
